The Rajshree Tandon Open University in Allahabad was founded by Act No. 10/1999, which was enacted by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature and signed by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh on March 24, 1999. It is named after Mother India’s famous son, Bharat Ratna Rajarshi Purusottam Das Tandon ji.

As a result, the Rajshree Tandon Open University intends to give higher education to a large segment of the public, particularly disadvantaged groups such as working people, homemakers, and other individuals who seek to improve or acquire knowledge through study.

And it will also make efforts to promote knowledge acquisition in a fast changing and developing society, and will continue to provide opportunities for updating knowledge, training, and skills in the context of innovations.
