The Jamia Hamdard Distance Education School of Open and Distance Learning (SODL) was founded in 2004 to promote education through an open and distance learning system. Its flexible and creative educational approaches enable anybody, anytime, and anywhere to engage in “independent learning.” The Universities ODL programmes also aim to give opportunities for Muslim girls who have traditionally been overlooked by national educational initiatives.

Jamia Hamdard’s SODL study programmes are selected and designed to match the learning needs of knowledge seekers while also allowing them to learn at their own pace and convenience. Due care has been made within the University’s financial means to keep the cost of education low, so that educationally underserved sections can benefit from the University’s programmes through ODL mode. With this purpose in mind, The Universities DODL has made a determined effort to provide professional and job-oriented courses, including regular changes to curricula and study materials, as well as the introduction of information technology tools.
