Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is one of the country’s most distinctive universities and educational institutes. The Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College (MAO College), which was founded in 1877 by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a remarkable visionary and social reformer, became Aligarh University in 1920. Since its inception, it has welcomed people from all walks of life and from all parts of the country and the world. Aligarh University’s Distance Education is the realisation of a comprehensive, far-reaching, and realistic vision.

Aligarh University’s Distance Education offers over 300 courses in traditional and modern education across 467.6 hectares in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

Students come from all around India, as well as other countries such as Africa, West Asia, and Southeast Asia. In several disciplines, seats are available for students from SAARC and Commonwealth countries. Regardless of caste, creed, religion, or gender, everyone is welcome at the university. In India’s top 20 research universities, it is placed eighth.

The University’s Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) was established under Section 5(9A) of the University Act.

The Centre provides study programmes that are tailored to meet the learning objectives of knowledge seekers while also allowing them to learn at their own pace and convenience. Flexible and creative teaching methodologies are used to provide “independent learning” for anyone, anytime and anywhere.
