Dibrugarh University’s Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (DODL), Distance Education was founded in 2001 with the goal of reaching out to the unreached. During the previous three decades, it has been seen that the majority of the University’s departments and centres of studies have received a considerable number of applications for admission to various programmes. A big number of students fail to enroll as University students due to a limited number of places in post-graduate and undergraduate classes. The University has set the objective of bringing Higher Education to the doorsteps of the learners, recognizing the importance of enabling adolescents who are either employed or self-employed and who are unable to pursue higher education due to economic or other reasons.
